Laxton is a rural village in N. Nottinghamsire, going back to the Norman Conquest of 1066.
These days visitors can go to the site of the castle at the edge of Laxton Nottinghamshire, and see the regions best preserved motte and bailey castle.
One can also view the beautiful, and lovely, village church which dates back from 1190 and is still regularly used to this day.
Yet, what makes Laxton really singular is its continuation of the Medieval Open Field Farming System.
Laxton is the only open farming system in Europe and you can meander the area on your own or have a tour, which we can organise for you.
