Protecting Young Drivers: Great Tips for Parents

Sash windows are an integral component of 18th and 19th century style. Their popularity stemmed from their larger panes of glass and more elegant proportions than casement windows.

Their origin has almost certainly been traced back to Yorkshire in England. They offered greater resistance to rot and distortion, while being able to keep out the weather and still allow fresh air in since they can be opened only slightly when it is raining.

Sash windows were a huge improvement over their predecessors, both aesthetically and practically, and were incorporated into older homes as well as being favored for new buildings. Many were later removed, however in order to avoid paying the window tax of the late 18th/early 19th centuries. The window with two movable sashes was developed during the Georgian era. Blown glass with bull’s eye markings were the most common form, but still expensive. Once larger panels became available the classic six-paned Georgian windows appeared. They became a key part of Regency architecture.

Sash windows continued to be popular during the reign of Queen Victoria, although carved and molded decorations were commonly added to them. Victorian houses often have large bay windows and elegantly proportioned facades with the windows getting gradually smaller as their height from the ground increases. Four paned sashes are more common in houses built at this time. While the absence of glazing bars was originally a status symbol, many people put in windows that imitated older styles once sheet glass had become cheaper and more commonly used during the late 19th century.

Sash windows have become far less common during the last century, despite being the favorite style at the beginning of the 20th century, due to the increase in cheap, mass-produced styles of window. Demand has recently grown again due to increased awareness of architectural history. These modern versions are produced with all the latest advances in technology, but retain the traditional style and elegance of older sashes, along with their functional design.

Volunteering — building a community bond, and supporting your local needy. To quote the old saying, charity begins at home. It’s a lot simpler to get involved when someone else has organized the event. And don’t you agree that if you had your co-workers working alongside you, you’d all have a better time while volunteering?

Companies like Adaptive Marketing LLC, that innovated financial and shopping benefits programs like Your Savings Club (MVQ*CLUBSAVE) that help to enrich consumers, are making themselves the points of organization enabling their employees to make time for reaching out.

Fortunately, company sponsored volunteering has grown beyond blood drives and once-a-year collections. Athletic shoe recycling programs and more active work like tree-planting days — these are just some of the activities that have been scheduled by Adaptive Marketing for its workforce. By centralizing the organization individual initiatives grew into events, with specific times, locations and dates posted ahead of time to make time management easy for volunteers.

Of course, it’s important to let volunteers choose activities in line with their own interests. At Adaptive Marketing, the company bringing you Your Savings Club (MVQ*CLUBSAVE), employees are presented with the chance to choose from a wide assortment of volunteer projects in their local area. You’ll soon see your workforce helping out children, getting involved in arts, environmental initiatives and so on. The result is that Adaptive Marketing volunteers are presented with the chance to use their time as efficiently as they can and relish their time volunteering. Usually a company-sponsored volunteer initiative — fundraising with a homeless shelter, for example, or assisting at a local school — is either for a one-off event or on a regular schedule in pursuit of a bigger goal. Even employees who say they haven’t time can squeeze in the public library’s sale of used books.

Turning their profit-making skills to the benefit of the community around them is a practice with a long pedigree at many businesses. Adaptive Marketing like many other companies sponsors volunteer programs in part to spread positive feeling through its home community by the actions of its staffers. Helping around your hometown makes you feel better about yourself — just the sort of thing to motivate members of staff both in their volunteer activities and back behind their desks, too.

Glee - Suffers Injury After Shooting Scenes For Popular Show

Glee heart-throb Jonathan Groff discovered the threatening side of singing on the top TV show.
The actor still has a 5in scar on his left arm inflicted in the staging of an amazing but energized dance number for the final episode of Glee’s first season, which may be shown in the United Kingdom on Channel four and E4 later on in the month.
Groff rolled up his sleeve and showed me the injury that ran virtually from his elbow to his shoulder.
‘I was singing the Queen song Bohemian Rhapsody, dancers were flying everywhere and a girl’s heel became stuck into me and drew blood,’ he told me before joking: ‘I think at that specific moment of contact I reached my highest notes. ‘I was fortunate, though.
Some had bruises, there had been a damaged limb or 2, others drew blood. It was like a scene from Gladiator,’ the 25-year-old added with a giggle, as we lunched at the West End fish and seafood restaurant J Sheekey.
The actor took a liking to my mushy peas and I was thrilled to share this most English delicacy with him.
Groff joined Glee music video half way thru the season as Jesse St James, a student from rival singing group Vocal Adrenaline. For a little while, St James dated the high school singing club’s diva Rachel, played by Groff’s real-world best buddy Lea Michele.
He was making a short trip to London to make domestic agreements for his half year run opposite Simon Russell Beale, Claire Skinner and Terry Beaver in a revival of Ira Levin’s shrewd thriller Deathtrap, that has been redone by director Matthew Warchus.
