Planning the Perfect Chicago Wedding

Filed under: Make Me Beautiful, University of Lifestyle — admin @ 6:00 pm

Could you fancy incurring the effort to make a high-dollar wedding and not putting your heart into every little detail? Allow me to brag a bit about the Boyd family’s storied wedding planning reputation. Maybe if you’re from Chicago you’ve heard about us and how we boast a proud reputation for planning classic Chicago weddings.

We eat, dream and fantasize about weddings. And we’re lucky to know more than a handful of wedding designers, caterers, chefs and bands. My Uncle Theodore is a very charming wedding host and cellist–and oh boy it’s impressive. This month we’ve carefully evaluated the creme de la creme of talent about Chicago wedding sites. It goes without saying that I was raised planning wedding planning. As a pro high class wedding planner without a minute to spare, I am finally working for myself, planning my luxury wedding with a bit of insight from all my friends. Did I mention that I am flying high in love. Anybody could declare I’ve been knocked off my heels by the most wonderful guy.

Caroline, my Chicago wedding photographer vendor and I, are very close and total girlfriends. She a little behind us, me and my soon-to-be husband Chris. Tuesday, we got out the old stills of her infamously tacky Dallas wedding. It was funny, but tastes change. Can you find the a lesson about good form in that.

I can’t hardly restrain myself. Our company is actually flying everyone in, and the entire invite list will be at one of the tallest Chicago wedding venues! I can’t share the specifics obviously who needs party crashers. It’s a great time to be alive, ringing in our love with friends and family. We can all admit that’s what a luxury wedding is definitely about. The luxury of living.

All the Best,

Amanda

A Bit of Advice re Sydney Botox

Filed under: Baker's Dozen, Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 9:34 am

Botulinum medicine (shortened to B.tox) has become the latest craze in Sydney society and now it has become an essential part of any beauty routine for many in the city.

Nevertheless I am often astonished when I hear the rumours surrounding this procedure. Below are a selection of the more errors that we encounter everyday in Star Cosmetic Medicine, where I am employed as a doctor.

Click here and take a gander at this fantastic page for Sydney Botox costs facts!

Delusion no. 1: My facial muscles could stiffen up!

Research has discovered there are 60 or so muscles in the human face. They ordinarily work in harmony, however over a period of time wrinkles can begin to form. When surplus B.tox has been used the muscular structure which are responsible for facial expression may sometimes become moderately less expressive. Broadly speaking doctors use relatively small dosages to are designed to make you look well rested, yet you will still be every bit as expressive.

Thus by injecting the correct amount of the wrinkle injection in just the right areas facial expression is saved whilst the fine lines and wrinkles are minimised.

Delusion no. 2: B.tox is poisonous!
This to a small extent is right. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the proper scientific terminology. Too great a dose may loosen muscles that you do not want relaxed or can even cause serious illness.

However to maintain some perspective - an ancient pharmacist’s expression is that ‘everything is poisonous - it all depends on the dose’. Every medicine in a large dosage can make you sick. Water can be a poison if you take enough.

Delusion no. 3: B.tox will be painful!
The needles we use at Star Cosmetic Medicine have a diameter smaller than your hair. Quite a few people state that the treatments aren’t worse than getting bitten by bugs. It for certain is not as painful as a procedure like a blood profile.

Delusion no. 4: B.tox will deaden the sensation in my face!
False. B.tox affects the junction between the nerve and the facial muscle, and not on the nerves of sensation. B.tox only targets the ability to relax muscular tissues.

Delusion no. 5. You can’t stop getting B.tox or else the lines become more pronounced!
Once Again this is simply untrue.

The first treatment lasts around 3 months. Any further injections after the initial one usually last a few weeks more. Eventually as muscle strength returns to normal the lines will slowly reappear. However they will certainly be no deeper than before.

In fact any lines will in general be less pronounced than if you hadn’t undergone B.tox - even should you don’t repeat the treatment. This is chiefly because you have given your skin a ‘wrinkle holiday’ for a few months.

How I Regained My Hair

Filed under: Great Self Improvement Tips, Health Tips, Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 5:37 am

The day I begun noticing my receding hairline and bald spot getting bigger, I embarked on my hair loss treatment journey. I would always find ways to comb my hair in a certain way to hide my hair loss. I started wearing more hats on the weekends as I went out with my wife, acquaintances or family. Walking in to work every morning without my hat was a painful experience. Your mind will do that to you when you are going through hair loss. It is so true that you never know what you have until you lose it. That can be accurate about your hair loss.

Having suffered from hair loss, I started to treasure every strand of hair that I had left. It was as if with each strand of hair I lost, so was a small portion of my self-confidence gone as well. A mate of mine had the same problem as me. I noticed lately that he seemed so much more relaxed and it appears as though his hair was growing back. I never wanted to bring it up but after a while I decided to ask. It was then that he recommended to me Advanced Hair Studio. With just a few visits my friend Tom had not only regained his hair, but his self-confidence as well. I decided to give Advanced Hair a try as after all I had a lot to lose, meaning my hair and self-assurance.

At first, I was a little sceptical. But within a few weeks the effects were obvious. Not only on my head, but in my behavior. I began feeling better about myself and started to lose the caps on the weekends. My wife has also observed a change in my day to day behaviour as well. It is amazing how just a few consultations to the Advanced Hair Studio had begun to change my life as a whole. I have constantly been cynical about people discovering my bald spot. Now, I am not frightened to look people in the eyes again as I have my full set of self esteem back.

Advance Hair Studio has not only given me back a full set of hair, but a big chunk of my life as well. So, if anyone is suffering from hair loss I highly recommend them. Don’t let your confidence continue to be lost with your hair.

Ceramic Hair Care Product Can Lose the Summer Frizzes

Filed under: Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 10:08 pm

Now that summer has arrived the sun is bringing warmth and light to the earth. Although we are loving the warm weather, we are not enjoying out of control hair. Humidity and damage from summer activities, such as swimming, tanning, and saltwater exposure will create styling difficulties regardless of your hair’s texture.
During the cold of winter, our hair straighteners have a permanent place on our beautiful vanity desks. Seasons have their effect and in summer, hair straighteners just get tucked away. This gadget works through heat, and heat is something we get plenty of in the summer months.
The solution is the ceramic hair straightener. As it is made up of ceramic coated alloy plates and uses infrared heating system, the heating is quicker and perfect without spoiling the hair. Your hair will remain at its best with a ceramic or tourmaline ceramic hair straightener.

The hair straightener uses heat to seal the hair, preventing the hair from drying out and leaving it very soft and smooth. It is especially helpful during summertime when your hair would otherwise be a frizzy disaster. Using more conditioner will minimise the damage caused by the heat of a hair straightener. Newer models cause less damage and can be used on dry or damp hair. On those days when you are late or hurrying, this will save you time in the mornings. Hair Straightened styled hair may be your better option in the long run. Your hair will dry quickly eliminating the need to blow dry which gives the added benefit of saving precious time in the mornings.

Therefore, as you stand and look in the mirror and see what summer has done to your hair, stop worrying about ends that are frizzy thanks to your ghd straighteners .

Seeking a Powerful Beginning with My Quality Lace Front Wig

Filed under: Great Self Improvement Tips, Health Tips, Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 6:47 pm

As a girl, invisible lace wigs were not something I was familiar with. Art was what kept me pretty busy. This applied until the moment my hair wouldn’t be the same because of alopecia. I pronounced that I couldn’t condone the chance of being the balding version of Demi Moore from New Hampshire.

I imagined that I was all alone, deprived of my trademarked hair do. I resigned that it would be impossble to get back full fashion and the hair to match. Buddy, how mistaken. Previous to receiving my new real wig, I went through a barrage of silly synthetic wigs that got my texture all wrong. My soulmate Harry told me about some dignified wig stores where I could get lace front wigs that would feel great.

So I got online and took a good look at their wigs. I noticed a cornucopia of astonishing, seamless lace front wigs. Their breathable lace front wigs did wonders for me.

Trying on the proper hair piece, a girl in my situation should foster confidence while admitting to her medical hair loss. Not since I was a girl did I want to flaunt my latest golden locks. It meant a lot to me to actually display my new look at the dinner table.

It’s likely I could be exaggerating things, but looks are important to who I am. Is there a deeper meaning to individuality than a beautiful head of hair? Darn-it, it wouldn’t be right if someone told me otherwise. Wigs are stylish fashion pieces to so many women.

You can’t understand what my loved ones have brought me. Not many can tell about me and my wigs (I have two now, for different styles). However there you have it, I’m definitely prepared to fearlessly approach my career again. Real human hair wigs made so much better for me.

Detractors may find this method silly. They’re wrong. I don’t care who you are, what creature comforts make living so possible? Speaking for myself, the secret is working hard and my lace front wig.

Lavender, Feel Better

Filed under: Garments, Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 12:58 am

The soft and fresh aroma of lavender captures the true idea of cleanliness, since by it’s nature is one pf the best antiseptics. Even better, it has many healing properties, if you apply it to your skin in baths; it’s perfect for treating minor joint pain, sunburn, and insect bites and minor skin infections.

Lavender has a great reputation of being the essence of elixir, since in a delicate way it has the art of balancing emotions. It is also a stupendous ally of combating fatigue. A simple massage with lavender oil accomplishes a greater relaxation that might completely put you to sleep.

Lavender comes fro the Latin world lavare, which means to wash. It is an original plant from regions of the Mediterranean; it is cultivated with frequency in gardens and grows wild in the region.

The Romans used it as a perfume after a bath; they would take the herb fresh and put it in their clothes to smell good and to scare off the insects. Some great uses of this great plant or herb are to simply add a couple of drops to your washer, and your clothes will have an exquisite aroma.

In your pillow after a long day at work and seven hours after you have taken your Acceletrim, simply use a couple of drops and your dreams will be more profound and relaxing. And lastly in your closet, the dry flowers give out aroma, and scare off insects, so put the dry lavender in small sachet bags and put them inside your closet.

The Different Methods of Hair Removal

Filed under: Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 8:53 pm

Getting rid of unwanted hair from your body can sometimes be a very painful process. But knowing the right procedure can help you to avoid unwanted rashes and acne. Everybody has a different skin type, so knowing which hair removal method suits your skin is important.

The different methods of hair removal are:

Shaving: With the help of a razor, you can cut off the tip of the hair shaft which has grown out through the skin. You can get disposable razors, razors with disposable blades, and also electric razors. Men use these razors to shave their faces, and women use them to shave their underarms, legs, and bikini areas. Always use blades with safety guard wires to minimize nicks and cuts on your skin.

Shaving is an inexpensive method. You can do it yourself; all you need is a razor and a shaving gel. But this method can cause burns, cuts, and bumps on your skin, and can be rather uncomfortable. Even ingrown hairs occur, as while shaving the hairs are cut below the level of the skin, so when the hair grows back, it grows within the surrounding tissue and not out of the follicle. The hair curls around and starts growing into the skin, and irritation, redness, and swelling can occur at the hair follicle.

Plucking: With the help of tweezers, you can pull the hair out from its root. You have to stretch the skin tightly, grip the hair close to the base, and then pull it out. Plucking will last for about 3 to 5 weeks. Though this is time consuming, it is inexpensive, as you do not have to go anywhere to get it done. It can be painful, and you may notice temporary red bumps, as the hair follicle gets swollen and irritated.

Depilatories: Depilatories are hair removal creams or liquids. This is an easy method, as depilatories can remove hair from the skin’s surface. They work by reacting with the protein structure of the hair, so the hair dissolves and can be washed or wiped away. It can last up to 2 weeks. They are easily available and are inexpensive. You can use it on your legs, underarms, and bikini areas. It has a bad odor though, and some people can even have an allergic reaction to it, which may cause rashes or inflammation. People with sensitive skin should be careful.

Waxing: In this method, a sticky wax is spread on your skin, and then a cloth strip is applied over the wax and quickly pulled off, taking the hair root and dead skin cells with it. Normally the wax should be warmed, but some can be applied cold. It can be done at a salon or at home. Waxing makes the area smooth and is long lasting. It lasts for about 3 to 5 weeks. The hair regrowth also looks lighter than it does after other methods of hair removal such as shaving. This can be a painful procedure and you may even get bumps and inflammation after waxing, but the result you get is worth the pain. Professional waxing is also expensive compared to other hair removal methods. Diabetic patients and those under acne treatment should avoid this method.

Electrolysis: In this method a professional electrologist would insert a needle into the hair follicle and send an electric current through the hair root to kill it. This gets done over a series of several appointments. It is a long procedure, and even a small area like the upper lip may take a total of 4 to 10 hours, and a larger area such as the bikini line may take 8 to 16 hours. This is a permanent method, but it is expensive and time consuming. The process can be painful, and dry skin, scabs, scarring, and inflammation may result after treatment.

Laser: Here a laser would be directed through your skin to the hair follicle and stop growth. Large areas of skin can be treated at the same time. It can last up to 6 months. This method is best suited for light-skinned people having dark hair, as the melanin in the hair absorbs more of the light; thus making treatment more effective. The treatment can be expensive and may cost up to $500 or more.

Prescription Treatments: Medicinal creams are available by prescription, such as eflornithine for treating facial hair growth. The cream is to be applied twice a day until the hair becomes softer and lighter. Side effects may include skin irritation and acne.

Another method that doctors prescribe is antiandrogen medications to reduce the appearance of unwanted hair. Androgen hormone can be responsible for hair growth in unwanted areas, and antiandrogens can block the androgen production.

It’s your personal choice whether or not you want to remove your body hair. Hair removal would not affect your health in any way, so you shouldn’t feel pressured to remove it if you don’t want to. But if you do wish to get rid of unwanted hair, choose a method that would suit you best. Remember that each person is beautiful in his/her own way, so always respect your body.

Cosmetic Solutions For Hair Loss

Filed under: Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 4:56 am

Many people suffering from hair loss prefer not to use the strong drugs and medications that currently form the best available treatment options. They may have tried a range of treatments but found they did not work or perhaps suffered unpleasant side effects. What options are left for such people, especially if they do not wish to consider surgery?

There are a number of solutions available but the final decision will be strongly influenced by the amount of thinning that needs to be covered.

1. Creative styling - this is perhaps the easiest option but its success depends on how far your hair loss has progressed. Slight balding can easily be camouflaged by careful grooming but attempts at covering large bald patches can end up looking ridiculous. One option for men with extensive thinning is to shave the head completely but this is not for everyone.

2. Hair cosmetics - this can include anything from hair thickening / volumizing products to dyes and fibers that blend with existing hair. Once again, these solutions really only work if the area of scalp to be covered is minimal.

3. Head coverings - seen by many as a last resort, wigs and hairpieces offer a further option. Once an object of derision, hairpieces have improved beyond recognition in recent years, although the price you are prepared to pay will determine the realism of the final result. Wigs come in all shapes and sizes and can be made from real or synthetic hair, but be warned the best ones are very expensive.

Baldness Linked to Diet?

Filed under: Make Me Beautiful — admin @ 1:47 pm

Don’t be taken in by ads claiming that male pattern baldness is caused by blocked pores and that you can cure male pattern baldness by applying a special shampoo that opens the pores so that hair can break through the skin and reach the surface. Bald men have almost the same number of hairs on their heads as those who have full heads of hair. However, the hair of bald men is so thin, light and short that you can see it only when you look very closely. Therefore, blocked pores do not cause baldness and unblocking pores to grow hair is nonsense.

Promoters demonstrate these product by measuring dry hair, applying the shampoo and then measuring the hair again, showing you that it has grown. Actually, any wet hair can be stretched and will measure longer than dry hair. If these products worked, you would not see any bald men walking around. Don’t waste your money. For current theories on baldness, read on.

The old theory was that the male hormone, testosterone, is converted to another hormone called dihydrotestosterone, that causes hair to grow darker and longer on the bodies, faces and sides of the head of men. Dihydrotestosterone also causes male pattern baldness by making hair on the top of the head thinner, lighter and shorter so you can’t see it. Scientists developed a drug called Proscar to shrink enlarged prostates by blocking the formation of dihydrotestosterone. The same drug is sold as Propecia (at five times the cost) to help hair grow on bald men, but it is not very effective.

More than five years ago I reported that the present treatment for male-pattern baldness is not very effective and that male pattern baldness may be caused by insulin resistance, and that the westen diet which is high in sugar and flour may cause irreversible hair loss. A study in the journal Lancet (Sept. 30, 2000) shows that male pattern baldness may well be caused by insulin resistance. Male pattern baldness means loss of hair on the top and front of the head, but not the sides. Insulin resistance means that a person cannot respond well to insulin causing both men and women to have very high blood levels of insulin. When you eat, your blood sugar level rises. To keep blood sugar levels from rising too high, your pancreas releases insulin which drives sugar from the blood into your cells. Some people respond poorly to insulin so their blood sugar levels rise too high and then they produce way too much insulin that causes man and women to lose hair.

Men who are at high risk for male-pattern baldness have the same characteristics as those who are likely to develop diabetes. They store fat primarily in their bellies, rather than their hips, have high blood triglyceride levels, have low blood levels of the good HDL cholesterol that prevents heart attacks, have a family history of diabetes , and are at high risk for suffering a heart attack and eventually developing diabetes.

Another study from Johns Hopkins shows that men who lose their hair early usually have high blood levels of insulin like growth factor-1, a hormone that the body produces in response to high blood sugar levels. Women who have a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome suffer from male-pattern baldness, have high blood insulin levels and can often be cured by taking medication to lower blood sugar levels and restricting foods that raise blood sugar the most, such as those with added sugar, bakery products, pastas and fruit juices. Eat root vegetables and fruits with other foods, and eat plenty of vegetables, whole grains, beans, seeds and nuts.
